Brewing Guide
Brewing Guide
Recommended Brew Method: Pour Over (Hario V60 or Chemex) — this method best showcases the Wanderer's Rest Decaf's smooth body and balanced sweetness.
Grind Size: Medium
Water Temperature: 195–200°F (90–93°C) — optimal for extracting flavor without over-extracting the decaffeinated beans
Coffee-to-Water Ratio: 1:16 (approximately 2 tablespoons per 6 oz of water)
Brew Time: 3–4 minutes
Drip Machine Method: Use a standard automatic drip brewer with a medium grind. The consistent heat and contact time work well for decaf, producing a clean, balanced cup without bitterness. Brew time typically 5–6 minutes depending on machine.
Alternate Brew Methods:
French Press: Use a coarse grind, 4-minute steep, and 195°F water. This method highlights the coffee's natural body and sweetness. Ideal for a fuller-bodied cup.
AeroPress: Medium grind, 1:15 ratio, 90-second brew. Quick and clean extraction that brings out subtle chocolate and caramel notes.
Moka Pot: Use a fine grind and fill the filter basket level with the top. Produces a concentrated, espresso-like shot perfect for milk-based drinks.
Turkish: Extra-fine grind, 1:10 ratio, heated slowly in a cezve until foam rises three times. Creates a rich, full-bodied experience.
Tasting Tip: Allow the cup to cool slightly before tasting — the sweetness and subtle fruit notes become more apparent as temperature drops.
Storage: Keep in an airtight container away from heat, light, and moisture. Best consumed within 3–4 weeks of roast date.
